Annual Conference 2017 Poster Prizes

22 March 2017

Annual Conference posters

Over 600 delegates have been selected by the Society’s Divisions to present their posters at this year's Annual Conference, making this our biggest poster exhibition yet. The posters provide an excellent way to showcase scientific research related to sessions going on each day.

This year, four poster prizes are being awarded, recognising the best posters and presenters during the Conference. All poster prize winners will be invited to present their poster again at the Society's Annual General Meeting in September 2017.

Microbiology Society Journals' 'Most Promising Science' Prize

This prize will be awarded to posters presenting compelling or novel research within the subject areas of the following Society journals: MicrobiologyJournal of General VirologyJournal of Medical Microbiology and Microbial Genomics. This prize will be judged by our journal Editors.

Principal Investigator Poster Prize

This prize will be awarded to posters presenting innovative and/or novel research. This prize will be judged by members of the Society’s Divisions, Committees and Council.

Early Career Microbiologists' Forum Poster Prize

This prize will be awarded by the Early Career Microbiologists’ (ECM) Forum Executive Committee. All posters presented by members of the ECM Forum will be included in this award, which recognises the most promising ECM presenters.

Sir Howard Dalton Young Microbiologist of the Year Competition

Each year, the Young Microbiologist of the Year Competition recognises and rewards excellence in science communication by a Microbiology Society Member who is a postgraduate student or a postdoctoral researcher who gained their PhD in the last two years. During the Annual Conference, judges will be visiting posters and listening to offered orals by delegates who have entered the competition via the abstract submission portal.

Come and visit our extensive selection of posters and chat to their presenters during the lunch break each days and at the evening drinks receptions from Monday to Wednesday.

More information about poster prizes can be found on the Annual Conference's page.
